WCA Contests Point Passion in the Right Direction

The WCA team is currently competing in an inter-office competition for the chance to earn passage on a boat cruise, where team members will have the chance to network with top industry leaders from across the country.

“If someone were to ask me to list the most important elements for success, goals would be at the top of my list,” stated Paul, President of WCA. “Well-defined targets give us something to aim for, and also help us concentrate our efforts in the best direction. By setting appropriate deadlines for our ambitions, we also create a way to measure progress. We admire talent, motivation, people skills, and a host of other positive qualities, but goals are what separate the best from the rest.”

To provide hands-on, real-time training in how to set and achieve worthwhile objectives, company leaders set up qualifiers and competitions. These activities give promotional specialists goals to shoot for that come complete with clear requirements and predetermined timeframes. The latest WCA competition involves several other dynamic advertising companies vying for tickets to go on a cruise with some of the most successful professionals in the firm’s industry.

Paul, President

“The winners of the contest will cruise Lake Michigan in July, so everyone is giving their all,” declared Matt, WCA’s Director of Operations. “There are some ways in which we’ve ensured that the contest helps us build camaraderie though. For instance, we’re competing against other offices, so when any of us win it’s a victory for our whole team. We’ve already seen some great examples of people becoming much more effective goal-setters, so their careers will definitely benefit from the effort, whether they go on the cruise or not. That’s really what these contests are all about – bringing our people together for a common cause, and helping them find out what they’re really capable of.”

The Importance of Networking to the President of WCA

As WCA team members travel, manage campaigns, and attend community functions, they enjoy many learning and networking opportunities. Whether acquiring fresh knowledge from industry leaders or connecting with local business experts, the firm’s promotional specialists build their confidence and broaden their horizons with every encounter.

“I think it’s vital to our continued success as an organization for our people to network, especially with successful leaders in our industry,” Paul asserted. “This allows team members to make connections outside their normal sphere of influence, and meet with those who can provide fresh perspectives.”

“Growing a strong network is imperative to business success, but I also want our people to experience the satisfaction of earning rewards, which is what makes this boat cruise a great contest,” Matt concluded. “Friendly competition in the office teaches our crew to set goals for themselves and see the payoff of working hard. It also builds camaraderie within the team. These benefits, along with the chance to network with leaders in our field, are why challenges like this play important roles in our operational strategy.”
