Waypoint Films and Meme Collaborate to Produce Web Spot for Kia Motors Corporation
Boulder, CO, November 20, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Waypoint Films Inc., a leading video production company based in Boulder, Colorado, was recently approached by Denver, Colorado creative agency, Meme, to produce a web spot for client, KIA Motors Corporation.
Kia has a longstanding relationship with Meme, and Waypoint Films is one of Meme’s trusted production resources and was the perfect solution for this quick-turn project. The spot highlights the Kia Sedona’s new Smart Power Liftgate feature, which allows for touch-free, automatic opening and needed to clearly show the liftgate in action versus a competing tailgate system.
"After working with Waypoint Films previously, we turned to them again for this critical assignment for a couple of very simple yet important reasons: 1) They create the drama in front of the camera, not behind it. 2) The client loves them. With Waypoint Films, no matter the budget, it's always a smooth, no-drama production and couldn't be any easier."

Due to time and budget constraints, production had to be completed quickly and efficiently. Waypoint Films’ team had to find a Southern California beach location that could be quickly secured within budget. An Orange County beach was selected due to its proximity to Kia headquarters in Irvine and its production-friendly local government. Several beach regulars were initially taken aback by the shoot, but got on board with the project when production shared their craft service and invited them to join the crew for lunch.
Says Meme President and Creative Director, Dean Del Calzo, "We turned to Waypoint films for the simple fact they're very, very good at what they do. Obviously when you're shooting automotive, there's an exceptional amount of attention paid to how the product is being shown. Waypoint Films’ Producer, Jed Mortenson, and his crew were always steps ahead, anticipating every shot and every camera move, all while looking for opportunities to plus-up the production."
"We have done several video projects with Meme and love working with them. Despite the challenge of a tight timeline, we were thrilled to be asked to produce this shoot, especially with a high profile client such as Kia Motors Corporation and in such a beautiful location,” said Waypoint Films Producer, Jed Mortenson.
Adds Del Calzo, “After working with Waypoint Films previously, we turned to them again for this critical assignment for a couple of very simple yet important reasons: 1) They create the drama in front of the camera, not behind it. 2) The client loves them. With Waypoint Films, no matter the budget, it's always a smooth, no-drama production and couldn't be any easier.”
