Village Crossing Hosts Open House for Housing Authorities
Online, June 2, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Village Crossing, a HUD-VASH property located in Gainesville, FL, hosted an open house on May 20th to showcase a series of significant upgrades to the low income housing complex. The upgrades demonstrate the on-going commitment by the owners, Creative Choice Group, to invest and maintain high quality housing options for the community.
Originally built in 1978, and updated in 2001, the property was due for some enhancements to foster the quality of life desired by residents and the management team. Most noticeably exterior improvements were made to the 91-unit property including painting of the outdoor facilities, repairs to all door frames, trellis and general structure. Internally beyond cosmetic updates, 90% of the vacant units received new energy efficient appliances and updated flooring.
Knowing the importance of property amenities the management team made a concentrated effort to enhance the outdoor living spaces. Fencing was repaired and the pool was reopened, much to the delight of residents. The clubhouse received a face lift as well with new lighting and renovations to the computer lab.
Over 40 residents and guests attended the open house. Ms. Pamela Davis, Director of the Gainesville Housing Authority, and Ms. Karen Fuller, Housing Choice Voucher Director of the Gainesville Housing Authority, were just two of the special guests in attendance. The Village Crossing location falls under the HUD-VASH program and is held to specific housing quality standards. This criterion includes accommodation for both homeless veterans and low-income families. While stringent, Creative Choice Group continues to demonstrate their ability to utilize the government program assistance in an effective manner to create affordable housing alternatives across the state of Florida.
"We are thrilled that key leadership from the Housing Authority, HUD and VA attended our open house and got to see first-hand the improvements we made to Village Crossing. The property management team on site has done a fantastic job driving these enhancements. In fact, we were just featured in the HUD-VASH Parade of Homes earlier this year. I am very proud to be part of the Village Crossing complex," said Dilip Barot, Founder and President of Creative Choice Group.
