Videos Provide Enhanced Customer Experience At Band Merch Store Planet 13
Online, January 8, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Just recently, popular online band merchandise retailer Planet 13 launched "product snapshot" videos on their YouTube channel. The purpose of the videos is to enhance the customer shopping experience, as well as aid in the buyer's decision process. Shawn Scott, former frontman of punk band Voodoo Lovecats and owner of Planet 13 says, "It's not always easy to tell what a product looks like from a photo, so we launched the product videos to provide an extra dimension. It's great for the customers because they fully know what they're purchasing."
With online shopping becoming part of everyday life, the biggest hurdle for internet consumers is now figuring out what exactly they're buying purely based on an image and description. Not being able to touch and feel an item, in order to see all of its features, can be a major roadblock for those trying to decide whether or not to buy a product.
Planet 13, a renowned band merchandise webstore, has created a way to give their customers a more full shopping experience by launching "product snapshot" videos on their YouTube channel.
"Since our inception in 2004, we've always been about helping our customers," continues Shawn, "So taking the time to create all these videos is really just part and parcel of what we're about."
Shawn goes on to mention that the videos have improved sales of items which have multiple features or are more complicated. "We're finding products linked to a video just sell better," says Shawn, "and that makes a lot of sense because it not only displays the item more fully, it also answers the 'what's on the back' type of questions we get." Shawn also says the videos further compliment the item description, giving the customer a much fuller picture of what they're about to buy.
The band merch store plans to eventually have most of their more complex products filmed and loaded onto their YouTube channel, "It's going to take a little while because we literally have thousands of items to record" says Shawn, who also remarks that simple items such as stickers or badges "don't really need videos because there's not much else to see. The items we're focusing on are those with multiple features or parts."
By displaying their band merchandise in video format, Planet 13 have overcome one of the many hurdles online shoppers face. Over the coming months, more videos will be published and linked from within their band shirt webstore to their YouTube channel.
