Victor Buonamia and People, Technology, and Processes Achieve Key ISO and CMMI Certifications

In what continues to be a highly successful year for People, Technology, and Processes, the IT solutions business has now been awarded a series of new ISO and CMMI certifications.

The new certifications, which the business hopes will improve overall processes and provide additional support for clients include ISO/IEC 20000, ISO 27001, ISO 9001:2015, and CMMI-DEV Level 3.

This could include an organization seeking sustained success via the implementation of quality management systems, or seeking confidence in their supply chain to ensure that their product and service requirements are being met.

ISO/IEC 20000 is an IT services management standard initially developed in 2005 and subsequently revised in 2011. "The ISO/IEC 20000 standard describes an integrated set of processes which together form a service management system designed to allow for the effective development and delivery of IT services on behalf of our clients," Buonamia explains.

The first internationally recognized standard for IT service management, ISO/IEC 20000 is published in two parts.

The first part, ISO/IEC 20000-1, outlines the requirements for developing and implementing a proper IT management system. Second is ISO/IEC 20000-2, which describes and further details the best practices and processes necessary for effective service management of the same system.

"Like almost all ISO standards, businesses and organizations must be officially certified in order to be recognized," notes Buonamia. "At People, Technology, and Processes, we're proud to have received all necessary certifications."

The PTP CEO goes on to explain several of the aims of ISO/IEC 20000, which include achievement of internationally accepted best practice standards, plus commitments to developing IT services which are both driven and supported by business objectives.

"Certification also involves the implementation of controls which ensure consistent levels of service," says Buonamia, "as well as the integration of processes to ensure that business goals are fully supported."

The second of the Florida-based company's newly achieved certifications, known as ISO 27001, is another global standard published by the International Standardization Organization. ISO 27001 provides a methodology for the optimal implementation of information security management within an organization.

Originally published in 2005 and revised in 2013, ISO 27001 is designed around, and developed upon, the British Standards Institution's BS 7799-2. Now compliant, PTP has been independently certified, verifying that the business has fully implemented all necessary information security procedures to ensure compliance with ISO 27001.

Meanwhile, ISO 9001:2015 specifies the terms and definitions which apply to quality management standards developed by the International Standardization Organization's ISO/TC 176.

The standard describes fundamental principles and concepts of quality management as they pertain to both organizations and their clients.

"Similarly," she goes on, "it further provides for clients seeking confidence in an organization's ability to consistently provide products or services which conform to their requirements."

ISO 9001:2015 also addresses improvement of communications through a shared understanding of the vocabulary required in quality management, with conformity assessments performed against the requirements of the standard itself.

PTP has also been appraised as CMMI-DEV Level 3.

CMMI, or Capability Maturity Model Integration, is a process level training and appraisal program. Overseen by the CMMI Institute, certification is required for many United States Department of Defense and U.S. Government contracts, especially in software development.

"Many companies provide software development as one of their service areas, but a client must be able to ensure that their development contractor has a proven track record," suggests CEO Victor Buonamia.

CMMI-DEV Level 3 status provides this assurance, promising a high level of service, and a superior standard of work.

"Work at this level," CFO Nicole Buonamia adds, wrapping up, "will enable People, Technology, and Processes to bring the best and brightest to the search for solutions to problems as diverse as synchronizing air traffic control with drones, to exploring renewable energy sources in developing countries."
