UTM Shillong Introduces New BBA Courses

The University of Technology and Management located in Shillong launches three new streams under its BBA course. This New Age University has already been running BBA courses in Digital Marketing as well as Hospitality, Travel and Tourism.

​The dream of offering a variety of courses under one roof has now become a reality for University of Technology and Management situated in Shillong. This university was already providing Bachelor of Business Administration studies in hospitality, travel and tourism as well as digital marketing. It has now in forayed into new areas, such as Aviation Operations, Oil and Gas Marketing and Logistics Management too. If the hospitality, travel and tourism programme was designed to serve the tourism and hospitality sector, the digital marketing course digs into Internet marketing strategies, technologies and latest developments.

Entry into Aviation Operations

Its Aviation Operations programme aims for creating skilled professionals in this sector. The main curriculum also has an added advantage of a built-in IATA foundation course, thus, increasing its relevance for the business purpose and help the students acquire an entrepreneurial mind for the same. The course duration is of three years and the admissions to the course takes place on the basis of group discussion and interviews. The minimum eligibility criterion for admission is the score of at least 45 percent at both the higher and senior secondary level.

Marketing for Oil and Gas

A specialization in oil and gas marketing has become important owing to the fact that it has suddenly propelled rapid economic development in our country. With the growth, the demand for working professionals has also gone higher. The discipline aims for creating such marketing professionals who are industry ready for petro retailing. The course structure offers exposure to the different aspects of the field and come up with solutions to face challenges in marketing and sales of the petroleum products as well as the allied services.

Managing Logistics

The logistics management discipline is a conglomeration of business management, accounting, marketing or operations management which are the part of electives. The motto behind teaching an elective stream with the major subject was to develop the overall marketing skills in students. It also allows them flexibility to go for alternative career paths. Topics related to supply chain management and logistics are always emphasized upon. There is an option to adopt retail and manufacturing logistics too.
