Online, June 17, 2012 (Newswire.com) - A new survey from Citibank revealed that four out of 10 small business owners are seeing positive business conditions, nearly doubling since two years ago, according to a Huffington Post article. The survey polled 750 small businesses around the nation, and one-third of the businesses reported doing better than a year ago. Another 33 percent expect their businesses to expand by 10 percent this year. More than half of the respondents indicated they reinvented their business to keep the doors open and prices competitive. Almost 40 percent noted the competitive climate as "extremely intense." To keep up with the pace, 47 percent of the businesses revamped their products or services; 24 percent transformed their infrastructure; 18 percent improved their sales and marketing tactics; 7 percent reduced prices and took a cut in profit; and 3 percent relocated.

In the future, 65 percent plan to maximize their marketing, 56 percent want to manage expenses better and 50 percent will add new products. A little more than half of the businesses ramped up their social media presence.
