Online, March 6, 2013 (Newswire.com) - To enlighten the knowledge of Engineering students about Indian power sector, a seminar was organized by United Group of Institutions on "Indian Power Sector Overview and Electricity Generation". Ms Madhu Bala Kumar, Dy. Director and Mr Mahendra Kumar, Asstt Director from National Power Training Institute were the guest of Honors and the key speakers for the seminar.
The seminar was presided over by presided by Mr Jagdeesh Gulati, President, UGI. In his presidential address, Mr Jagdish Gulati welcomed the guests and said that India's power sector has witnessed drastic changes in the past decade. The dream of "Power for all" is still distant, Due to India's economic rise, the demand for energy has grown at an average of 3.6% per annum over the past 30 years.
Addressing the crowd, Ms. Madhubala Kumar, Dy Director, National Power Training Institute gave an overview of power sector focusing various methods of power generation. She also gave a comparison of Indian and global energy scenario and mentioning the fact that Nevertheless, India as a country suffers from significant energy poverty and pervasive electricity deficits. In recent years, India's energy consumption has been increasing at a relatively fast rate due to population growth and economic development, even though the base rate may be somewhat low.
Mr Mahendra Kumar gave the detailed working of power plant. He emphasized on economic generation and efficiency improvement of the plant. The lecture was followed by Interaction Round with the students, where the speakers cleared the doubts and queries of the students related to topic. The seminar was attended by more than 100 students, faculty and staff members.
