Undefeated world champion Joe Calzaghe has today pledged all profits from a star-studded testimonial dinner in honour of his fighting career to Britain's gallant war heroes and the charity which provides for them, Help for Heroes.

The gala dinner will be held at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on 22 March 2010 and will pay tribute to our nation's fighting heroes. It will feature appearances by a host of sporting legends and stars from the world of entertainment who will put on a show to remember which is expected to raise a six figure sum for Britain's fighting heroes.

Also attending will be representatives of the fighting regiments whose men have made so many sacrifices in Afghanistan as well as some of those wounded in combat on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Announcing his unique donation Joe, who retired as Britain's only ever undefeated world champion holding the world super-middleweight and light heavyweight titles after an incredible career in which he won every one of his 46 fights, said:

"I will always be proud of my record of having retired as the undefeated world champion after 18 years as a professional. But it was only when I met some of our servicemen and saw their sacrifices that I truly understood the meaning of undefeated.

"They are an inspiration to us all. I can think of no better use of money raised from my testimonial dinner than for it to make a contribution towards the better futures of those who have made such unimaginable sacrifices for their country."

Mark Smith of Help for Heroes, said: "Joe has been one of the greatest champions of all time in the ring. This magnificent gesture of donating the proceeds of his testimonial dinner to our boys proves that he is a truly great champion out of it too."

Tables for ten at the dinner are available at £5,000 and can be booked through www.joecalzaghe.com
