Resolve and Podiums for MDK Motorsports at Grand Prix of Long Beach

Weekend Two of Carrera Cup North America Tested New Team's Resolve

Hot off their success in the Porsche Sprint Cup in Sebring last month, MDK Motorsports participated in their third and fourth races of the 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup North America at Grand Prix of Long Beach over the weekend. With both trials and triumphs, the new team is proving to be a formidable competitor among the seasoned teams on the circuit.

After crashes that prevented both team drivers from completing their races on Saturday and required extensive repairs late into the night, the team was rewarded for their tenacity with two podiums the following day. Pro driver Trenton Estep achieved P2 and Mark Kvamme stood atop the Am podium for the first time this season.

"The weekend at Long Beach was challenging, to say the least. We had the highest of highs coupled with some incredible lows," says Team Manager Will Bamber. "I think it was an incredible show of resolve from everyone on the MDK team to overcome adversity and be rewarded with podiums for both drivers. We have a lot of catching up to do but there is great momentum for us heading into the next events. We are confident that we will literally be firing on all cylinders."

The weekend's victories put MDK Motorsports in a strong position ahead of the next slate of races. Trenton Estep is currently ranked fourth in the Pro class and Mark Kvamme is ranked first in Am, contributing to an overall standing of third for the team in the Porsche Carrera Cup North America. "While it is still very early, we plan to take full advantage of our positions near the top of our classes," says team owner and driver Mark Kvamme. "With the help of our stellar crew and extended team, I'm confident that we can keep the momentum going."

"It was a tough weekend for sure," says Pro driver Trenton Estep. "The event started off really well for both Mark and myself, qualifying at the front of the grid in both classes. Unfortunately, I made a costly mistake that put the MDK staff to the test for race two. Our world-class team worked 30 hours straight to not only give me a complete racecar for Sunday afternoon but a competitive one. Thankfully I was able to pay them back with our first podium in the Pro class for the 2022 season."

Estep reflects, "I owe a debt of gratitude to everybody at MDK Motorsports. We win and lose as a team and there is no one else in the paddock I'd rather have supporting me."

MDK Motorsports will take the track again from April 29 through May 1, 2022, at Laguna Seca.
