Trift, IDB-Brazil Join Hands to Support Revival of Tourism Industry in Bonito

Bonito

Award-winning travel platform Trift has collaborated with the Institute for Development of Bonito (IDB), Brazil, to digitally support tourism in the South American country, which is on the path to recovery after a COVID-19-induced lull.

The Trift-IDB collaboration emerged through a first-of-its-kind Innovation Challenge programme by ENRICH in Brazil[1] in the last quarter of 2020. The venture intends to support non-profit organisations engaged in Tourism & Leisure, Digitalisation, and Sustainable Development sectors in Brazil to overcome COVID-19 challenges with innovative solutions provided by European companies and organisations.

As part of this partnership, Trift has worked closely with local tour guides of IDB to collect and compile first-hand information needed to travel to Bonito - one of the world's top ecotourism destinations (https://www.trift.io/bonito). It provides in-depth first-hand information about Bonito, and on-demand virtual tour experiences sourced and curated by local tour guides and the IDB team. The Trift-IDB alliance plans to come out with a 'paid experiences' project to support the local tour guides to monetise their work using the Trift platform.

"The partnership with ENRICH has been essential for tourism in Bonito and the region. The IDB believes that the use of technology is fundamental at this moment to allow people, even if they are not physically in Bonito, to continue to be enchanted by the attractions of our region and to disclose about all biosafety measures that the Capital of Ecotourism is taking in the COVID-19 pandemic," said Emanueli Ribeiro, Executive Secretary at the Institute for Development of Bonito (IDB).

ENRICH in Brazil's Innovation Challenge initiative enables companies and organisations to get innovative solutions from external sources, gain new perspectives and out-of-the-box ideas for specific problems to support Europe and Brazil's collaborations.
