In 2012, some of the milestones that were seen included another increase in tourism during the holidays, record sales in travel and the 1 billionth tourist on December 13th 2012 as well, making 2012 the biggest year for travel yet. Some of the most popular cities for travel last year included New York who welcomed over 50 million visitors from both the U.S. and internationally, the city of London, who hosted the 2012 Summer Olympics and saw hundreds of thousands of additional travelers because of this and of course Paris. Though the top destinations do tend to fluctuate year after year at least to an extent, Paris is always one of the top destinations for travel both internationally and domestically.
