"TRANSMEDIA STORYWORLDS: CREATING AND MANAGING YOUR CONTENT"
Bernie Su, of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries and other transmedia experts discuss creating worlds in the new world of mutli-screen, multiplatform dynamics

Transmedia SF, a transmedia digital agency, studio, incubator and salon, and Content Strategy SF, a community involved in the creation and delivery of content, announced a joint event - "Transmedia Storyworlds: Creating and Managing Your Content" for the evening of September 30, 2013. This event will showcase world-class transmedia storyworlds and their creators to elucidate the content creation and management aspects of building transmedia properties.

"We're excited to be co-hosting this event with Transmedia SF. The complexity of transmedia executions-including both creative storytelling and multi-channel marketing campaigns-implies a well-conceived content strategy," said Frank Marquardt, co-founder of SF Bay Area Content Strategy. "We see this event as an opportunity to connect the dots between the creative execution of successful storyworlds and the content strategies behind them."

A transmedia "storyworld" refers to the shared universe within which the settings, characters, objects, events, and actions of one or more narratives exist. What makes a storyworld transmedia is the fact that the narrative unfolds across devices and platforms including mobile and tablet devices, web interfaces, games systems and traditional media such as theater, books, film and television. Implicit in a storyworld is a content strategy based around a target audience: There is the planning for the creation of the multiple branches of the story, the distribution of the story across multiple channels, the management of those channels, the coordination across those channels, and, often, the governance of content across the storyworld's existence.

"It is wonderful to be hosting this event with the Content Strategy SF Bay Area team and combining and expanding our audience for this exciting evening with this expert panel of transmedia creators," said Maya Zuckerman, founder of Transmedia SF. "Bernie and his team built such a unique transmedia universe with The Lizzie Bennet Diaries that this and the other case studies we'll showcase all serve as excellent 'best-practices' case studies for our communities."

"What we did with Lizzie Bennet was construct the Jane Austin world of Pride and Prejudice for a modern audience," said Bernie Su. "That required that we not only update the material, but deliver it to our audiences in a way that resonates with them - via YouTube, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter - and other social media. This is what transmedia is and I'm happy to be able to share our experiences with Transmedia SF and the San Francisco communities that are exploring these new storytelling methods."

"Whether you're a creative devising a transmedia platform, a brand meeting your customers across channels, or an organization striving to drive awareness and engagement around your world-changing work, the relationship between your storyworld, your audience and your content strategy is a critical one," said Beth Rogozinski, founder of Transmedia SF. "Bernie and his team have a profound understanding of their audience - where they live, how they want to interact and the tone of the story they want to participate in - and the success of Lizzie Bennet exemplifies this."

In addition to the presentation by Bernie Su, Frank Marquardt, Maya Zuckerman and Byard Duncan, Communication Specialist at Blue Bottle Coffee, will also be presenting.
The event is being sponsored and hosted at the SF School of Digital Filmmaking. Content Strategy SF and Transmedia SF will provide drinks and food for attendees during the networking portion of the event.
