USA Today reported in 2016 that Donald Trump had offered $100 million, to build a ballroom addition to The White House, to entertain Heads of State, “without putting them in tents on the lawn”. It was a plan he had first mooted in 2011, but six years on and with President Trump firmly ensconced in the Oval Office, the tents look set to remain.
