Tim Robbins And Occupy Wall Street Campaign
Online, December 1, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The massive protest against economic inequalities, corruption and the influence of corporate houses on governance, has attracted celebrities too. Tim Robbins has always engaged himself into liberal causes, and now he is into the Occupy Wall Street Protest. The campaign is on in Lower Manhattan, and Tim Robbins was on the streets last Wednesday and was with supporters who gathered n front of the Courthouse, Foley Square.
Tim Robbins said to Financial Times, "This is what an actual grassroots movement looks like," while adding, "It's a bit sloppy and disorganized but full of passion."
The campaign though is on since mid September. Further the campaign attracted not only Robbins but also Penn Badgley. He has been involved completely with the protestors by talking to them and clicking their snaps.
Apart from these two (2) celebs, Rustle Simmons, the Hip Hop mogul, Kanye West, and Al Sharpton were the latest faces to lend their celebrity touch to the movement. They too mixed up with the masses on the streets of New York. The campaign is going to take a larger form, by targeting banks in the coming days.
These visits came at a time when the movement was resounding with the sentiments on a variety of topics, the chief ones being "corporate greed, political ineptitude and inordinate power wielded by the United States' wealthiest people."
This nationwide protest has been overall peaceful, though arrests cannot be ruled out, which were more common in New York and Washington. The movement has mixed reactions, while Democrats seem to be supporting the movement, the Republicans and some of the 2012 candidates for Presidential election like Newt Gingrich and Herman Cain prefer to call it "class warfare."
The movement has a mass support of women, kids, college students and there is no one left who is not attending the movement.
