This Freelancer Life Digital Magazine to Launch on iPad, iPod, Android in July 2014
By Melissa Van Hoorne

FOR RELEASE May 11, 2014
Chicago, United States. We appreciate that the world has become a global village with the internet as its economic hub; this has ushered in the era of the mobile freelancer. This summer, two women from opposite sides of the United States are pleased to introduce individuals in this new workforce into a worldwide evolution, equip them with the relevant skills they require to be the best in their fields and to sustain their excellence. This Freelancer Life is a digital magazine launching on iPad, iPod, and Android this July. At just $0.99 per issue, the magazine hopes to bring value worth much more than that, with rich content every month.

About This Freelancer Life
Once primarily called "independent contractors," freelancers are seen in the workplace and online in record numbers. The freelance life has many woes to balance out its numerous benefits, and This Freelancer Life hopes to even out the score, and make the woes not so…woeful. Articles range a broad spectrum of topics—from mastery of job skills, to health and wellness, improving client communications, to working-parent freelancers—and everything in between. The magazine will avail information on what freelancing is about, how to be a successful freelancer and feature eminent freelancers.

About the founders

Co-founder, Melissa Van Hoorne, a.k.a. "The Administrative Wonder Woman," is extremely passionate about the life that freelancing had allowed her to live. As a persistent survivor of fibromyalgia, and a rare genetic illness that affects connective tissue, her financial stability would be severely unstable via disability checks she may, or may not, qualify for had it not been for the consistent income that her freelance job provided her.

Miss Van Hoorne reflected:

"I know it has always been instilled in me to work hard for what I have. For a while there, I felt really guilty and depressed for not working. I felt like a victim. The victim mentally permeates you and everything—everyone—around you, and I didn't want that anymore. That's when I became inspired and empowered to try freelancing on Elance. Sure, it wasn't easy at first, but what you get, is what you give."

Also a co-founder of This Freelancer Life, Katie Joll, a.k.a. "The Super-Freelancer Mum," loves the flexibility that freelancing allows her; enabling her to spend more time with her family, and even fit in some travel.

Miss Joll commented on the freelancing life:

"Freelancing has given us more options and freedom with our work choices than ever before. A parent can get work done around child activities, and there is the bonus of location freedom. Without the traditional stability of the 9 to 5, we all need good tools, systems, and knowledge to make sure we can not only make a decent living, but put plans in place for the future."

Objectives of This Freelancer Life

This Freelancer Life aims to provide tool and tips for those systems. There is a large knowledge gap, particularly among new freelancers. This Freelancer Life will point them in the right direction, show them how to stand out from the pack to nap those all-coveted contracts, and be paid according to the true value of their work. There is also often a distinct lack of protections in place for those freelancers should they find themselves with legal issues, or unable to work for whatever reason.

Kickstarter campaign

On May 12th, the creative duo will celebrate the launch of their Kickstarter campaign, which Miss Van Hoorne sees as the beginning of a dream come true for her hard-working and passionate team. Be sure to check out their gorgeous custom T-shirts and hoodies they have to offer for their loyal backers. Also, there's a unique chance to be featured in the magazine - a once in a lifetime opportunity to leave a media legacy, we look forward to seeing you that day.
