12-Person Class Elected After Year-Round Selection Process; to be Enshrined in Buffalo on Jan. 13

The Western New York Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse held its annual selection meeting and elected the following members to the Hall of Fame. The Class of 2018 consists of former Buffalo Bandit John Tavares, St. Bonaventure Men’s Head Coach Randy Mearns, University of Louisville Women’s Head Coach Scott Teeter, Men’s Lacrosse Official Tom Sutton, Women’s Lacrosse Official Michelle Barczak, Amherst Girl’s Lacrosse Coach Janet Battaglia, former Orchard Park Boys’ Varsity Coach Gene Tundo, Clarence Girls’ Varsity Coach Doug Kohler, Girls’ Lacrosse Coach and former member of the all-Iroquois Women’s Team Sandy Jemison, former college All-American Women’s Player Paula Fronckowiak, and posthumous inductees Tom Borrelli and Ed Van Tine.

The annual selection meeting was held inside the Canisius College Koessler Athletic Complex in Buffalo, New York and capped a year-round selection process.  The newly elected Hall of Famers were chosen from a list of 24 finalists who had been determined earlier by the Western New York Lacrosse Selection Committee.

It's a real privilege and honor to be a part of the Hall of Fame selection committee and welcome the 12 newest members to the Western New York Lacrosse Hall of Fame family. This is a unique Hall of Fame class with 12 different categories represented spanning decades of competitive excellence. We're very excited to celebrate this great milestone with our WNY Lacrosse inductees and their family and friends.

ED GREENWAY, PRESIDENT OF THE WESTERN NEW YORK CHAPTER OF U.S. LACROSSE

The Class of 2018 will be introduced for the first time as a group and formally enshrined into the Western New York Lacrosse Hall of Fame on Saturday, Jan. 13. The Enshrinement Ceremony will be held in the Marriott Buffalo Harborcenter Ball Room with the reception starting at 4:00 p.m. and dinner to follow soon after.  The event will conclude with a recognition moment during the evening’s Buffalo Bandits home game versus the Vancouver Stealth at the Key Bank Center.

Tickets for the event can be purchased for $35 each, with tables for 10 people available for $300. The price includes access to the event and one ticket to the evening’s Buffalo Bandits game versus the Vancouver Stealth.
