The Truth Urban Theater Group Brings Broadway to Long Island

The Truth Urban Theater Group is bringing Broadway quality shows to a Long Island theater near you. The group, directed by founder & Actor Shadrack Boakye and Vice President Jemelle "Melee" Joseph, seeks to bring diversity, community and untold stories to Long Island communities. Using the captivating tools of drama, poetry and drums, the powerful performances put on by the Truth UTG portray relatable characters which reflect everyday human errors, poor judgment, and the endless results of human flaws while leaving audiences thinking about the 'alternative'. The Truth aims not to preach, nor judge, but instead uncover the unknown or forgotten hope and open the doors that were once shut or hidden in the minds of many people today. All performances strive to release chains of fear and other types of mental bondage by the portrayal of different characters and their identified resemblance  in each of us.

The Truth UTG is currently celebrating Black History Month by offering a Free showing of their premier play 'Viva Africa.' The show will be held at the Van Nostrand Theater (Suffolk County Community College - Brentwood Campus) on February 23rd, 2017 at 7:00PM. Viva Africa, a renowned hit, is described as "A modern day, high energy, West Side Story meets Lion King production; sprinkled with spoken word, drums, Latin dance, Break dance, and African dance." Viva Africa is also touted as much more than just a show, but rather an event that will truly never be forgotten.
