The Romantic Tourist Reveals Secrets of Love
Online, March 28, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Marrying abroad costs less than half the price of a UK-based wedding, a survey by romantic travel company The Romantic Tourist has revealed.
The average spend on a UK wedding has now reached almost £23,000, while celebrating your nuptials abroad comes in at a far more modest £9,500.
This is just one of a series of romantic facts and figures discovered by the company, which is dedicated to helping couples find and book romantic breaks and experiences for special occasions such as a proposal, wedding, honeymoon, birthday, anniversary or renewal of vows.
Other fascinating insights tell us about the romantic gender divide when couples book their romantic holidays. Across the board 58% of all romantic trips were booked by men, this rose to a massive 94% of bookings for proposal trips, and 73% of anniversary celebrations. Women dominated the weddings market generating 93% of all wedding enquiries.
The survey also shows that some romantic hotspots have particular appeal for specific events. For honeymooners, Bali, Thailand and Mauritius are respectively first, second and third favourite destinations. The most popular place to pop the question is London, followed closely by Venice and New York. Those celebrating an anniversary are most likely to travel to Italy.
Couples taking a short break over two or three nights spend an average of £475, while those booking a honeymoon tend to spend closer to the region of £3,400.
The Romantic Tourist gathered the figures of the survey from an analysis of a 1000 booking enquiries sample generated through their website www.theromantictourist.com
