The Lake House Luxury Guest Cottages Bring Upscale Modern Family Rentals to the Berkshires

The Lake House Guest Cottages are a collection of four luxury rental cottages located in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. Built in 2015, each house embodies modern New England charm, and features fully equipped kitchens with granite countertops, gas fireplaces, warm wooden interiors and astounding views of Pontoosuc Lake. The entire property is also available for weddings, corporate retreats/seminars and family reunions. For more information, visit www.berkshirelakehouse.com.

The Berkshires of Western Massachusetts are famed for their picturesque natural beauty. A short three hour drive from Boston or New York City, they remain a perfectly preserved image of rural New England. Many tourists flock to the region’s numerous farm-front bed and breakfasts and historic stately hotels. But these types of lodging aren’t always ideal for families. For those who wish to avoid the formal atmosphere and the lack of privacy that comes with shared accommodations, renting a guest cottage at The Lake House will be endlessly more comfortable and fun.

The Lake House Guest Cottages, a collection of four upscale, private homes built in 2015, offer some of the most luxurious and modern amenities found in the Berkshires. Each home features fully equipped kitchens with granite countertops, gas fireplaces, warm wooden interiors and astounding views of Pontoosuc Lake, framed by the mountains of Balance Rock State Park. Every cottage can access the property’s boat slip and private dock, as well as the communal boat house.

We built the Lake House Guest Cottages because we want to change the way people stay in the Berkshires. The area has plenty of great old world hotels and renovated farm houses that have been turned into bed and breakfasts, but not all types of families, especially those with multiple young children, find those appealing. Our goal was to offer families a warm and inviting upscale place, on one of the region's largest and most beautiful lakes, that felt more like home.

Eric Taylor, The Lake House Developer & Owner

“We built the Lake House Guest Cottages because we want to change the way people stay in the Berkshires,” says Eric Taylor, the Lake House’s developer and owner. “The area has plenty of great old world hotels and renovated farm houses that have been turned into bed and breakfasts, but not all types of families, especially those with multiple young children, find those appealing. Our goal was to offer families a warm and inviting upscale place, on one of the region’s largest and most beautiful lakes, that felt more like home. The Lake House offers guests more flexibility, freedom and fun. If they want to stay in and make dinner, they can do so in one of our fully equipped kitchens. If they want to visit a ski resort or hike the state’s tallest mountain, everything is just minutes away. If they want to spend the day on the water, we have a boathouse stocked with an array of complimentary kayaks, canoes and other watercrafts.”

Summer is the region’s busiest season. With it, tourists escape from the confines of nearby cities to experience the region’s major attractions: outdoor activities, culture, arts, tranquility and the local farm-to-table food scene. But for families looking for year-round outdoor fun, winters are just as exciting.

The Lake House Guest Cottages are just minutes away from Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort, the area’s most famous ski, snowboard and tubing center. With 45 trails, 9 lifts and night skiing, Jiminy is the largest ski resort in southern New England. For families looking to tackle more than one mountain during their vacation, nearby Berkshire East Mountain Resort and Bousquet Ski Area also offer tremendous trails.

In addition to hitting the slopes, families can also try:

• Charter The Berkshires ice fishing with Paul Tawczynski, professional angler and host of TV’s Guiding Ice

• Aerial adventures at Ramblewild, the Northeast’s premier tree-to-tree adventure park

• Miles and miles of cross-country skiing at Notchview, Maple Corner Farm and Canterbury Farm

With a maximum event occupancy of 150 people, The Lake House Guest Cottages can also make the perfect venues for weddings, corporate retreats/seminars and family reunions.
