Austin, TX, June 29, 2017 (Newswire.com) - 25-year-old debut author, Matthew A. Gallagher of Austin, TX, is releasing his first book on Saturday, July 1.
The Influence of Man (non-fiction) offers critical, digestible analyses on many of today’s most controversial topics. Covering subjects ranging from divisive ‘isms’ pertaining to race, gender, and class, ideological frameworks of systemic oppression, shortcomings in American education, and climate change science — this book is sure to capture the curious minds of readers everywhere.
"My goal in writing [The Influence of Man] was to challenge the way people perceive the world around them. My hope is that readers see the collective effect we have in shaping the world around us and to press forward the narrative that we must hold ourselves accountable for the world we are building and ultimately leaving behind for future generations."
Matthew A. Gallagher, Author, The Influence of Man
When pressed for which component of the book Gallagher wishes readers would focus on most, his answer was a resounding call for “better understanding of the science behind climate change." He says the end-goal is to explain how man-made activities impact the environment and to determine the best course of action to correcting our negative influence.

This is indicated by two of the ten chapters focusing on climate change and climate change science through Chapter VI. Concepts of Climate Change and Chapter VII. Foundational Climatologic Destruction (F.C.D.) & Rates of Concern.
Each chapter provides simple insights into the thermodynamics of climate change science; first through an analogous anecdote to Gallagher’s own life — by comparing the function of Earth’s ice caps to the A/C and engine coolant in a Jeep from his time as a student at Louisiana State University. Then, introduces a term coined by Gallagher, Foundational Climatologic Destruction (or F.C.D), which is intended to categorize manmade activities that destroy ecological components necessary to sustaining life — as well as introduces a mathematical model designed to explain the thermal impacts of manmade processes.
The Influence of Man is available now on Amazon and other online retailers in paperback, hardcover, and eBook formats. Copies begin shipping Saturday, July 1.
