The Historic Fort Harrison Opens Its Doors to Community for Annual Holiday Brunch

Though the weather outside seemed more like summer, there was much seasonal cheer to be had at the Church of Scientology's annual holiday brunch.

On December 13th, more than 450 people from the greater Clearwater community flooded Clearwater’s Fort Harrison for the 20th Annual Holiday Brunch. Originally begun as an appreciation event for the Church’s neighbors and their families, the event has grown to encompass more of the community every year. This year’s guests included members of the hospitality industry, area non-profits and representatives from the Greek community’s Laconian Society.

In addition to the brunch buffet, guests availed themselves of photos with Santa Claus and Olaf the Snowman and the nearly 500 pound gingerbread house located directly outside the Fort Harrison Auditorium.

No matter your religious tradition, this is a time to celebrate man's goodwill to his fellow man.

Pat Harney, Public Relations Director

The guests were welcomed by the Public Relations Director for the Church, Ms. Pat Harney. “No matter your religious tradition, this is a time to celebrate man’s goodwill to his fellow man. On behalf of the Church of Scientology, I wish you the happiest of holiday seasons and a flourishing 2016.”

The Flag Band and special performers Carlos Day, Hana Li Winters and Palmer Mirnay performed a mix of holiday songs and modern classics.

“We come to the brunch every year,” said photographer Maya Mois, while sitting by the Fort Harrison pool and watching her son and grandson play ping-pong. “I bring my whole family and they love it, it starts our holiday season!”

“This is our present to our community and the friends we work with throughout the year,” said Ms. Harney. “L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology said that ‘on the day when we can fully trust each other, there will be peace on Earth.’ This is especially true in the spirit of the season.”

The Church of Scientology hosts events for the community, including fundraisers for local charities, on a regular basis at the Fort Harrison. If you are interested in attending future events, please contact (727) 467-6860.
