The Fort Collins Music Experiment 3rd Annual Music Festival Taking Place April 8 and 9

The Fort Collins Music eXperiment (FoCoMX), presented by Fort Collins Musicians Association (FoCoMA), is geared up and ready for the 3rd annual music festival taking place this April 8 and 9, featuring over 200 Northern Colorado bands at 30 venues.

April is Local Music Appreciation Month in Fort Collins, Colo., and music lovers will be able to celebrate at the 3rd annual Fort Collins Music eXperiment (FoCoMX) on April 8 and 9. The event will feature more than 250 Northern Colorado bands, artists and DJs at 30 venues throughout Fort Collins. Presenting a wide array of music genres, there will be something for all ages and tastes, with most venues starting at 6 p.m. and ending at 2 a.m.

FoCoMX, presented by the nonprofit Fort Collins Musicians Association (FoCoMA), has nearly doubled in size year after year - garnering national attention and earning it the unofficial title of "The Biggest Little Festival in America." This year's festival is expected to draw more than 3,500 fans, and will feature nationally touring acts, such as Arliss Nancy, Candy Claws, Dovekins, Danielle Ate the Sandwich, Fierce Bad Rabbit, Good Gravy, Johnny Hickman, Peace Officer, SHEL and many more.

The musical celebration will also feature free musician education panels, free children's workshops, an interactive karaoke lounge, silent films accompanied by live music, and, new this year, a silent disco. A full lineup of performers, schedule of events, and venue information is available at www.FoCoMX.org.

"FoCoMX is the signature event of FoCoMA and offers an opportunity for music lovers to celebrate and enjoy the amazing talent of our local musicians," says FoCoMA Co-Founder and President Greta Cornett. "Many people don't have the opportunity to travel to the nation's larger music festivals. FoCoMX delivers a fun, music festival experience to Northern Colorado with some of the same great acts featured at SXSW, but at a much more affordable price."

Weekend passes are on sale now for $15 online at FoCoMX.org, or with cash at Rock 'n' Robin's, 804 South College Avenue, Fort Collins, Colo. Festival goers are advised to show up early for their favorite bands, and free bus transportation from venue to venue will be available to help fans pack in as much music as possible.

New to the festival this year, those who purchase tickets online prior to April 1 will be entered into a lottery to win an upgrade to "Golden Tickets." The exclusive, VIP Golden Ticket passes will allow entry into any of the event venues without waiting in lines. Age restrictions and venue capacity limits will still apply.

Much of FoCoMX's success over the past several years is attributed to its sponsors, venues, volunteers and the outpouring of support from the local business and music community.

"FoCoMX is a volunteer-run festival and offers a variety of opportunities for individuals to get involved, including: working door shifts at venues, event set-up and clean-up, assisting with stage production and management, helping with ticket sales and information, or even emceeing a stage," says FoCoMA Volunteer Coordinator Danielle Hastings. "In addition to enjoying great music and connecting with the community, volunteers who contribute four hours of time or more will also get free access to the festival all weekend long."
