The First Annual Long Island Web Awards Launches To Recognize The Best Long Island Based Websites
Online, March 18, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The Long Island Web Awards (http://www.longislandwebawards.com) announced the first annual online awards campaign to recognize the best Long Island based websites and social media pages.
"As Long Islanders we have many options. Using the web to find local events, businesses or information is an integral part of everyday life simply because so much is going on. We wanted to find a way to recognize the people and organizations that are going the extra mile to stand out and bring Long Islanders into their world… online." says Gina Kearney.
The awards program was founded to recognize Long Island websites that are actively using the Internet to create, communicate and collaborate with our local communities.
"We've always felt it was crucial to keep the Web local," says Robert Kenney. "Large corporations continue to make gains against small business online, so we're hoping the Awards will help showcase all that our local Long Island communities have to offer."
The Long Island Web Awards invites Long Islanders to vote for, or nominate, their favorite Long Island based online destinations. Voting is open through September 1, 2014 and participants can vote one time per day, per website. Winners will be announced on or about September 15, 2014.
Nominee submissions are categorized into groups including Arts & Entertainment, Beauty & Fashion, Events, Food & Drink, Health & Fitness, Kids & Teens, Made on Long Island, Non-Profit, People & Places, Pets, Services, and Shopping. Voting is open to all U.S. residents age 13 or older.
