The Documentary Acres of Diamonds: The Story of the Knight Arts Challenge in Detroit Has Been Awarded an Emmy
The documentary, co-produced by Illumiret Productions, wins a local Emmy in Detroit for the Arts and Entertainment category.
Detroit, MI, July 12, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Juan Carlos Gonzalez, the owner of Illumiret Productions, is pleased to announce that the documentary Acres of Diamonds: The Story of the Knight Arts Challenge in Detroit that his company co-produced has been awarded an Emmy in the Arts and Entertainment category. Gonzalez was also the official cinematographer and colorist for Acres of Diamonds.
The 30 minute documentary highlights local artists’ projects that received challenge funding from the Knight Foundation that allowed them to turn their ideas into reality. Every year, the Knight Foundation invites the Detroit community to submit their best ideas for the arts through a grants process. In the last two years alone, the Knight Foundation granted close to $5 million to fund 114 arts projects in Detroit. Acres of Diamonds captures the artists’ journeys and was named from Dwight Stackhouse’s story about Detroit told at a Secret Society of Twisted Storytellers performance.
