The Delhi School of Communication (DSC) Organized Cultural Fest - Connexions 2015
New Delhi, India, November 5, 2015 (Newswire.com) - DSC's Annual Cultural Fest has been an integral part of the curricula for the last 20 years, where students bring alive the history, traditions, song, dance, food and several other aspects of the most dynamic cultures globally. It gives students first-hand experience in research, media buying, client pitches, advertising, event promotion and fund raising – all of which takes a call on the students’ creativity to devise and implement innovations.
This year out of a study of 10 different cultures, four dynamic cultures were selected for presentation, namely -Turkey, Nigeria, Philippines and Canada (Toronto).
“Fusion music, song and dance are creating a new and unique genre through instrumentation and talent resonating across the globe,” observed Prof Ramola Kumar. She continued, “At this stage, it is imperative that we understand and appreciate cultural ethos even as we dissolve boundaries as humans.”
The event was attended by teams from the Philippines, Canada and Cuban Embassies along with special guests, faculty and students.
Ms Ma Agnes M Cervantes, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission found the event to be “well-communicated” while Ms Jeanette B Ramo, Political ASEA and Cultural Office commented, “Cultural understanding and economic development has to be in place first, followed by technology and then only the country can take off from there.”
Archana Mirajkar, Senior Media and Communication Officer, Embassy of Canada noticed that it was a very enriching experience. Ms Marileydis Duenas Morales, Counselor & Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Cuba discerned that she learnt a great deal about different cultures from the event.
Pervin Malhotra, Career Guidance specialist and Education Counsellor, who also hosts her own TV show felt that “this show should be taken professionally to all schools”. It was “entertainment and information well mingled” according to Sundermoy Sen, Visiting Faculty and former Associate Consultant with McKinsey Knowledge Centre.
On the threshold of an amazing learning experience, Aakarsh Kashwani 1st year student said, “Culture exists because of us and we exist because of culture”. His friend Trisaant Dutta announced with a smile, “I visited 4 countries today without a passport or visa!”
Among the current batch passing out, Naveen Singh, Varun Goyal, and Aurko Mukhopadhayay jointly remarked that “besides learning about different cultures, we could relate to this well-knit programme”. DSC alumni Avneet Berar perceived that “apart from giving an opportunity to know about cultures, it helps build relations too”.
