The Connections Model Presents Managing Emotional Regulation Using the KidConnect App at the Council for Exceptional Children 2016 Convention

Lori Jackson and Steve Peck will be presenting “Teaching Emotional Regulation: Essential Skills for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Other Emotional Behavioral Disabilities” at the CEC convention in St. Louis on April 15, 2016.  Their talk will discuss new techniques and tools on how educators can support the growing number of students who display disruptive classroom behaviors. Jackson and Peck developed the KidConnect App to enable students to easily and independently understand how their emotions drive their behavior.  KidConnect teaches students strategies to change their behaviors allowing them to remain in their classrooms.

"We believe teaching emotional regulation is the missing link to students’ ability to function in the classroom and beyond. KidConnect is based on cognitive behavior theory and teaches students strategies to manage their emotions." said Lori Jackson, psychologist and Co-Founder of The Connections Model. “We know classroom teachers need easy and functional tools to support a range of students and situations. KidConnect teaches emotional regulation by repairing the pathways children need to identify, manage, and channel their feelings appropriately. ”

“It is our hope that attendees will return to their home districts with a new understanding of their students.  With KidConnect, teachers can manage and support even the most challenging classroom behaviors,” said Steve Peck, Special Educator and Co-Founder of The Connections Model “CEC is an extraordinary conference and we are excited by the opportunity to meet, learn from and network with colleagues from all around the world at this premier professional development event.”
