The Art of Silence in Himachal Pradesh

Biggest workshop on meditation to take place in Himachal Pradesh

Dharamshala, India, : The Art of Living foundation is organizing The Art of Silence, an advanced meditation course from 24th to 27th March 2010. The course, which will be held in the indoor stadium, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, aims at providing a conducive environment for the participants to experience deep meditation and rest.

"Meditation is the delicate art of doing nothing", says Sri Sri Ravishankar, the founder of The Art of Living. "Purpose of words is to create silence. Purpose of action is to bring deep rest. Purpose of deep rest is to bring you fulfillment. In fulfillment you find joy, bliss. Purpose of love is to create blissful state deep within."

The workshop builds upon the Part I course offered by the Art of Living and is a residential retreat lasting for 4 days. The workshop aims at giving a deeper insight of one's physical, mental and spiritual dimensions and is considered by many as a vacation for the body, mind and spirit.

"I have done the Art of Silence course and believe me words are just not enough to explain how profound and refreshing the course was. It was a truly enriching experience!" said Saranya Srinivasan, a commerce graduate. "It was a journey from head to heart; letting go of the worries that eat the head and relaxing in the self, from being an adult to becoming a child again. I never knew silence could be so blissful and spontaneous. On the whole, it was the best use of a holiday I had made in my life", said Arun Rajkumar, a computer Engineer from Chennai.

The workshop combines the ancient techniques of asanas, pranayama with some unique guided meditation designed by Sri Sri to lead towards physical, mental and spiritual renewal. The workshop also has a small period of practicing silence, wherein one consciously withdraws the mind from the outer distractions and moves deeper within to experience the inherent peace and rests in the Self. The advanced breathing techniques taught in the workshop can be practiced even once the course is over.
