Texas and CSX Top Railroad Accident List for April 2014
Washington, DC, July 8, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The Federal Railroad Administration has released the Highway Rail Accidents data for April 2014 to data.gov.
Texas again tops the list of accidents by state with 24 incidents, down from 27 in March. This is up from 13 accidents in Texas in April 2013 and 20 in April 2012. Texas has had the most accidents by state every month so far in 2014.
Indiana and Alabama took the second and third spots. The top ten states with numbers of accidents for April 2014 are as follows:
Texas: 24
Indiana: 12
Alabama: 10
Ohio: 10
Georgia: 9
Illinois: 7
Kansas: 7
South Carolina: 7
Louisiana: 7
Missouri: 6
CSX tops the list of accidents by railroad with 37 incidents. This is one more than Union Pacific managed in March. CSX also took the accident crown in April 2013 with 24 accidents.
Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific take the second and third spots. The top ten railroads with numbers of accidents for April 2014 are as follows:

Union Pacific: 31
BNSF: 18
Amtrak: 8
Canadian Pacific: 4
Kansas City Southern: 3
Illinois Central: 3
Union Pacific Metra: 2
Chicago, Central & Pacific: 2
