TENTEN Wilshire: NFL Returns to Los Angeles

According to ESPN writer Andy Katz, Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that the NFL voted to return the Rams to Los Angeles. The new Inglewood stadium will be a quick shot down the ten freeway from downtown and the hope is to bring the Super Bowl to the West every five years. Promised to be the largest stadium ever built, the site will be able to hold two NFL franchises and hopes to lure the Final Four and the Olympics as well. Two other previous Los Angeles are also contemplating a return. If a second franchise shares the new stadium, the likely teams look to be either the San Diego Chargers or Oakland Raiders.

In the meantime, the newly returned Los Angeles Rams will play in the very nearby Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, also home to the USC Trojans. Having football so close by should prove a boon to the local downtown restaurant and nightlife scene, not to mention be a whole lot of fun to root for. Football fans are certainly excited, and more than 45,000 have already sent in deposits toward purchasing season tickets. The season ticket campaign will stay open through February 8.
