· April 1 – May 31: The Museum of Selfies
This new photo-op-filled Museum of Selfies promises to make good on its name. It’s only going to be in Glendale for a limited time, with hands-on installations that examine the 40,000-year history, science, art, and culture of self-representation. There will be plenty of Instagram-ready photo op exhibits such as one dedicated to the “food selfie”, an iron throne made of selfie sticks, faux rooftop for “high-up selfies,” a “bathroom selfie” area, and an entire section dedicated to narcissism that combines Greek mythology with statistics on the number of deaths from selfie-related accidents.
· April 4 – May 31, Ricardo Montalban Theatre: Rooftop Cinema Club
The masters of alfresco rooftop movie viewing have returned for the fourth season of screenings on the Montalbán rooftop—and the second season at Downtown’s LEVEL. Known for excellent film choices and a steady supply of snacks and beverages, Rooftop Cinema Club is snazzy, comfortable, and a less-stressful alternative to other outdoor movie screenings.
· April 22: Celebrate Earth Day
This year, the Earth Day Network is campaigning for “A World Without Plastic Pollution.” From poisoning and injuring marine life by disrupting human hormones, from littering beaches and landscapes to clogging waste streams and landfills, the exponential growth of plastics is now threatening the survival of the planet. In response, Earth Day 2018 will focus on fundamentally changing human attitude and behavior about plastics and catalyzing a significant reduction in plastic pollution.
