Online, May 23, 2012 (Newswire.com) - PHILADELPHIA, PA - Smart Care Doc™ of Telemed Ventures, LLC has formally announced the opening of its first retail walk-in telemedicine clinic at the Bensalem Walmart Store in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Smart Care DocTM replicates the gold standard of medical care, the doctor's office visit, while improving the patient experience through added convenience, quality care, and cost savings that align with Walmart's "Save Money/Live Better" vision.
Smart Care DocTM delivers a complete, real-time medical visit via a secure video call between patient and physician. The Physician is able to diagnose and prescribe medications to treat patients with help from on-site nurses who administer diagnostic tests, including digital stethoscope, blood pressure, temperature, weight, blood oxygen level, EKG and video camera/lamp. Nurses also provide immunizations, minor wound care, and other services.
Patients receive all of the benefits of the traditional office visit that they have come to expect, namely a focused dialogue with a doctor about medical issues with predictable, transparent pricing.
Additionally, each patient is provided free access to an electronic personal health record system known as a "Patient Passport™". The "Patient Passport™" empowers patients to effectively manage their health information via access to their medical records including: continuity of care records and documents, a list of medical problems diagnosed from their encounters with Smart Care Doc™ physicians, a list of medications, allergies, and appointments.
