Teen City Stage Dominates at Musical Theatre Competition in Anaheim
Teen City Stage's Team Broadway wins Sweepstakes Awards and brings home 40 trophies from the Musical Theatre Competitions of America which took place in Anaheim, CA on February 6,7 and 8, 2015
Charlotte, NC, February 23, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Team Broadway’s 45 participating middle and high school students, representing 16 different schools from around the Charlotte area, placed in solo and duet categories, and won First Place in both Revue and Advanced Ensemble group categories for High School, and Second Place for the Middle School Revue.
The group included nine scholarship students who were able to participate thanks to contributions from generous donors to the program. Teen City Stage is committed to making Arts Education available to all, and gifts to our MTCA Scholarship Fund helped students who could not normally afford to participate at competition in California, experience and learn from this amazing opportunity.

Team Broadway also won the Sweepstakes Awards for MS and HS Divisions which is given to the group receiving the highest average score from their top scoring entries in 3 categories – one entry must be in Revue or Ensemble.
First Place finishers were Thomas Laub and Katherine Cherok Senior Duet; Libby Hatfield and Ava Smith Freshman/Sophomore Duet; Maya Grace Buckner and Lauder Fuhrmann 8th Grade Duet; Meg Crosbie and Charli Head 7th Grade Duet; Carlyn Head, Rixey Terry 8th Grade Solo; Sophie Teague 7th Grade Solo; Libby Hatfield Sophomore Solo; Samantha Rockhill Junior Solo; Thomas Laub Senior Solo.
Rixey Terry also won Triple Threat Award in a MS Musical Revue and Anna Hertel won Triple Threat Award in a HS Advanced Ensemble.

Team Broadway rehearsals took place at Providence Day School, and culminated in three performances of their production of A Chorus Line on January 30, 31 and February 1 at Pease Auditorium on the CPCC campus, and participation at MTCA in Anaheim on February 6,7, and 8.
