Tampa Chapter #36 of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Installs 2013-14 Officers and Directors

NAWIC Tampa Chapter #36 Officers and Directors newly installed last night, September 9th, at our Annual Installation and Awards Banquet

This was the 53rd Installation of Board of Directors since the chapter was founded in 1960.

The Annual Installation and Awards Banquet was hosted at the Season's 52 in Tampa Westshore with nearly 50 attendees including chapter members, colleagues, friends and loved-ones. The evening began with an Inspirational Message and the Presidents Year in Review accompanied by a delicious 3-course menu of fresh seasonal selections.

Prior to the 2013-14 board installation, the Gaylene Plodzein Scholarship Awards were presented to 3 Students in the total amount of $2,000. An additional $1,000 was awarded to the Hillsborough Education Foundation INVEST Program. Since 2008, the chapter has generously issued $9,500 in grants to the INVEST program and $10,250 in direct student scholarships; for a total of $19,750.

Throughout the event several women were recognized and awarded for their significant chapter contributions throughout the year.

The Woman of the Year award was also renamed for Francene Grivna, one of our active chapter-charter members, and was presented to Ingrid Rodriguez of JSS Property Professionals, Inc.

The program concluded with several heart-felt presentations and the Incoming President's Acceptance and announcements.

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Tampa Chapter, founded in 1960, has spent over 50 years supporting women in construction. We are currently part of Region 3, the only region in the State of Florida. Our members work and live in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, Sarasota and Manatee Counties. We are committed to continual educational development for both women currently working in the construction industry and for those interested in joining us, through our National Education Foundation Certification Programs, and on the local level through CAD Design and Drafting Competition for high school students, and Block Kids for elementary students. We also offer several scholarships to students throughout Tampa Bay. Our members remain committed to doing business with other chapter members; with a variety of networking opportunities you are certain to find members who will help your business grow. Our monthly meetings, social gatherings and a variety of committee meetings ensure you'll develop relationships with the most involved women in the Tampa Bay Construction Industry.
