Sydney's Screenwise Acting School Opens Auditions For July Showreel Course

The Showreel Course is Screenwise's most popular and successful acting course with Australian actors such as George Houvardas, Tabrett Bethell, Ed Kavalee and Todd Lasance having used their Screenwise Showreels to help build their screen career.

Auditions are now being held for the Screenwise Acting School's Showreel Course which begins in July. The yearlong course consists of two classes per week, 3 hours each in duration over four 10 week terms, with entry by audition only.

Graduates of the Screenwise Showreel Course are proving that this Sydney acting school is a step above the rest. Australian actors George Houvardas (Packed To The Rafters), Tabrett Bethell (Legend of Seeker), Ed Kavalee (Between The Lines, Thank God You're Here) and Silver Logie Best Actor Award Winner, Todd Lasance (Home & Away and Cloudstreet) all used their Screenwise Showreels to help build their screen careers.

Another former Screenwise student, Claire Scott, is calling Los Angeles home this year having moved from the Screenwise Studios in Sydney to Hollywood. Claire first came to Screenwise in 2007 as an eager young student enrolled in the Showreel Course. Since then she has appeared in 'Packed To The Rafters' and '33 Postcards' - a soon to be released feature film starring Guy Pearce. Amidst a flurry of casting calls in LA, she's currently working on a new film called 'Liars All' in the USA.

"As soon as I started studying with Denise Roberts at Screenwise, that's when it became real. And I thought this is something I can actually do," Claire told IF Magazine. "Denise actually started everything for me. She flew to LA and told my managers about me. They signed me back in Australia before they'd even met me."

It's the story that dreams are made of - but what most people don't know is that Claire Scott studied and worked hard to build a credible showreel at Screenwise, the Sydney Acting School. "Her training in the 12 month Showreel Course has been paramount to her success" says Screenwise CEO and Australian Actress Denise Roberts.

The Screenwise Showreel Course differs from showreel courses offered by other acting schools. "Our school's focus is entirely on screen acting, which involves a markedly different method of acting than theatre acting," says Denise Roberts.

"All training is done on camera. Students work for an entire year, building their screen acting techniques and gaining inside information about how Film & TV sets work. They receive constant assessment and feedback from tutors who are award winning actors, directors and casting consultants. Our emerging actors learn to thrive in front of the camera."

"When our Showreel students graduate, they take with them a professional Showreel that they can call their best. We believe that it takes more than a weekend to put together a professional showreel. The reality is that you'll be up against established actors with a lifetime of work on their showreel - we help give new actors a showreel with an edge" says Roberts.

Other successful actors to study at Screenwise Studios include Chris Hemsworth (Thor, Star Trek), Isabel Lucas (Transformers) and Andy Whitfield (Spartacus).
