Sunoco Selects Local Contractor For Filling Station Work
Online, May 30, 2012 (Newswire.com) - A multi-national company has chosen a local contractor to complete critical projects in upstate New York this summer. Several filling stations recently acquired by Sunoco will be brought up to the highest environmental and technological standards by Paragon Environmental Construction Inc.
"Sunoco chose us from a highly competitive field of a half-dozen other contractors," said Peter Paragon, owner of Paragon Environmental Construction. "We were selected to complete tank upgrades at not one individual site, but at all of the filling stations scheduled for upgrades."
Paragon Environmental Construction, based in Brewerton, N.Y., will remove older underground gas tanks and piping systems at Sunoco properties stretching from Buffalo to Albany. Then, the company will install new, state-of-the art fuel storage systems at the locations. These new tanks and pipe systems will have the latest in environmental protection technology, and will bring a chain of newly-acquired filling stations up to Sunoco standards, Paragon said.
"Also, Sunoco selected us to serve in an oversight role for other parts of the project, such as instances where a new canopy will be built at the same time as we are installing new tanks," Paragon said. "For Sunoco, this means they have one contractor they can call to ask questions or receive updates about the project's progress. This also means that all of the work conducted at these project sites will be performed to our stringent health and safety procedures."
Work has commenced at the first of the sites and will continue through early fall, Paragon said.
Sunoco, recently acquired in a $5.3 billion transaction by Energy Transfer Partners, owns and operates global retail, refining and crude oil acquisition assets.
