After raising $35,000 for music education during the 2016 Rock for a Cause, the executive committee, along with members of the Del Couch Music Education Foundation and Manatee School for the Arts, held auditions earlier this month for students seeking scholarships for the Berklee College of Music Summer Programs.

We were thrilled to have seven aspiring young musicians bring their A-game during an afternoon of auditions, held at the Del Couch Music Education Foundation studio, housed within the Manatee School for the Arts Music Department. Students from Sarasota and Manatee schools featured their talents ranging from vocals and guitar to woodwinds and production.

Students who will be awarded scholarships for either a week-long program at Berklee and/or a two-week summer camp at Manatee School for the Arts will be announced on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Mattison’s City Grille in Bradenton at 4 p.m.

Sam Woolf, who was a finalist during the 2014 season of American Idol will perform during the event, and 2015 Rock for a Cause winner Paige Merriman will also attend the scholarship announcement ceremony.

Please join us at Mattison’s for these exciting announcements.
