SPHERE Technology Solutions Partners With NetApp, Expanding SPHEREboard Product Development

Technology Alliance Partnership will Support Ongoing Development and Promotion of Joint Solution

SPHERE Technology Solutions, a woman-owned cybersecurity business focused on improving security and enhancing compliance, pens Technology Alliance Partnership with NetApp to accelerate product development and expand market awareness of its flagship SPHEREboard platform.

As a Technology Alliance Partner, SPHERE will deliver operational efficiencies, infrastructure security capabilities, clean-up tools for audit findings, and cloud enablement for unstructured data to the NetApp customer base via the SPHEREboard platform. In conjunction with NetApp's storage technology, the joint solution will allow large IT organizations to do in-depth data analysis and remediation of entitlement issues across their unstructured data platform.

Key features of the joint solution include:

  • Scalable data collection mechanisms
  • Simplified business views of enterprise inventory and risk
  • Seamless transition from reporting to remediation
  • Cost-effective data governance and administration processes
  • Auditing and compliance

"We are thrilled to be part of this very prestigious network of organizations as we are looking to advance our capabilities and add unprecedented value for our customers," explained SPHERE President and founder Rita Gurevich. "NetApp is a trusted platform and we are excited to integrate with their solution to help companies gain critical insights into their data and also provide immediate risk reduction options that improve their security posture."

The company's flagship solution, SPHEREboard, enables IT organizations to leverage existing infrastructure investments to gather and report on data coming from a myriad of sources in order to provide a holistic view of the global environment in terms of security and risk. This allows project teams to perform entitlement reviews and other data governance projects without exhausting dwindling budgets, while companies address the negative business fallout from COVID-19.

With data growing exponentially and the costs to store and manage it continue to rise, having the ability to understand data that is "Stale" versus "Active" provides storage groups the ability to determine the age of content and usage patterns. Additionally, infrastructure and security teams are being tasked with resolving major audit failures related to open, excessive and non-standard access; the NetApp Technology Alliance Program provides the support to do so across their customer base.

While SPHEREboard previously leveraged the NetApp API to collect folder structures and metadata, activity data will now be leveraged as part of the partnership to power:

  • Improved accuracy in ownership assignment
  • Deep dives into datasets that can be considered stale and retired
  • Enhanced views for business users on data usage
  • Visibility to showcase users that will lose access as a result of a change preventing potential outages
  • Ability to investigate individual activity on unstructured data assets
  • Functionality to add active users to the appropriate access control lists
  • Functionality to remove permissions that violate policies

SPHEREboard is now available on NetApp Partner Connect.
