Soroptimist Int'l Alhambra Presents Charity Fashion Show on Nov. 19

SIA Charity Fashion Show

Soroptimist International of Alhambra, San Gabriel, and San Marino presents their annual charity event, Sweet Dreams Pajama Party and Fashion Show, on Sunday, Nov. 19, at Almansor Court, 700 S. Almansor St., Alhambra, California.

One hundred percent of funds raised at the event benefit Soroptimist's programs that improve the lives of women and girls locally and globally. These programs provide services and support to help women and girls identify and achieve their dreams. The “Sweet Dreams” event theme, a nod to the Soroptimist “Dream Programs,” invites attendees to dress in pajamas/lounge-wear with the promise of a prize to one lucky guest for joining in the fun. One lady and one gentleman deemed to be dressed in the “most glamorous” outfit will also be awarded a prize.

This year's group of unique boutiques, fashions, vendors, contributors and entertainment elevate our annual event to a new and exciting level! Hopefully, guests will recognize the great work we do within the community and generously spend for a great cause that is so relevant today.

This lighthearted annual gathering usually sells out, capped off at 300 in expected attendance; so organizers encourage people to buy tickets early. Attendees can enjoy a trade fair, silent auction, door prizes, luncheon, entertainment and a fashion show. Doors open at 11 a.m., kicking off the cocktail/holiday gift shopping hour, when guests can indulge in a selection of more than 60 creatively assembled silent auction baskets, as well as diverse offerings from clothing, accessories and jewelry vendors. Lunch follows promptly at noon, followed immediately by the fashion show and entertainment.

This year’s fashion lineup features local boutiques: L & M Fashions, Jade's FashionsJohnny Was and Vidorra, showcasing an eclectic mix of styles in adult contemporary women’s wear, with selections ranging from upscale sophistication to casual, bohemian-chic. Lifestyle and fashion blogger, Nina Dominique, also joins the runway team, which embraces models of all ages, ethnicities, shapes and sizes.

Entertainment this year includes Alhambra’s own Pop Rock Academy performing arts school for youth, and The Tappettes, an adult tap-dance troupe from Whittier, while popular KCRW DJ, Marion Hodges, spins records, providing the musical backdrop for the event.

Cynthia Jarvis, fundraising chair for SI Alhambra, states, “This year’s group of unique boutiques, fashions, vendors, contributors and entertainment elevate our annual event to a new and exciting level!” Jarvis adds, “Hopefully, guests will recognize the great work we do within the community and generously spend for a great cause that is so relevant today.”
