Sony XBR55HX929 Review & Best Price

The Sony XBR55HX929 is an absolutely awesome TV. It was very easy to set up, with instructions right on the TV. It progressed without a glitch. The picture is magnificent and the smart features all work as advertised.

Sony XBR55HX929 is one of the best TV on market today. An elegant design, brilliant picture quality with inky blacks, high technologies, and handy features make this TV competes well with the other TV on it class. Enjoy brilliant Full HD picture quality for both 2D and 3D format, and a new level of precision and detail with Intelligent Peak LED full-array backlighting with local dimming. Sony's X-Reality PRO video processing delivers optimal color, contrast and sharpness--even with low-resolution web videos. Speaking of internet videos, built-in Wi-Fi gives you connected entertainment options, thanks to Sony's BRAVIA Internet Video and Widgets. Or play back your digital video, music, and photo files right over your home network from DLNA certified devices.

The good: Sony XBRHX929 series produces deeper black levels than any current LCD or plasma TV, giving excellent overall picture quality. It evinces accurate shadow detail and color; offers plenty of video processing options; and can properly handle 1080p/24 sources. It has a beautiful, thin-profile exterior design with Gorilla Glass, and its Internet suite includes numerous streaming services and widgets as well as built-in Wi-Fi. Its 3D image shows minimal crosstalk.

The bad: The extremely expensive XBR-HX929 shows some blooming artifacts, and its picture deteriorates more noticeably than usual when seen from off-angle. Its menu and Internet service design is lackluster, and Sony does not include 3D glasses. When displaying 3D, the image flickers when dejudder (a type of video processing designed to smooth out motion in HDTVs) is turned off, and it deteriorates rapidly when you tilt your head.

Technical Details:

• Experience smooth and precise motion detail during fast-action video with Motionflow XR 960 technology.
• Intelligent Peak LED backlighting with full-array local dimming for Sony's most precise contrast.

The Sony XBR55HX929 is an absolutely awesome TV. It was very easy to set up, with instructions right on the TV. It progressed without a glitch. The picture is magnificent and the smart features all work as advertised.

The only negative, is the Owner Manual. It's very abbreviated. A detailed manual is available via a button on the remote, but it would have been helpful if the printed manual was more inclusive.

It seems like if a product is expensive compared to its competition, people demand and expect perfection. Although not perfect, the picture quality of this TV set is vastly superior to any other television on the market. You can test this TV with the other top TV and you will see that the picture quality of Sony XBR55HX929 is flat out better.
