Solvan "SLICK" Naim Wraps Filming of His First Feature Film Full Circle
Online, December 20, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Brooklyn, NY - Bushwick resident and rap artist Solvan "SLICK" Naim (a.k.a Slick the Misfit), announced completion of principal photography for his first feature-length film "Full Circle," which he wrote, starred in, and co-directed with award winning Finnish director Olli Koivula. The comedic action drama, which takes place in Bushwick, spotlights the vibrant culture of the borough's 2.5 million diverse residents. Full Circle features a fresh cast of aspiring Brooklyn actors that tells the tale of a young pizza delivery guy who faces a life-changing crisis when he stumbles across a large stow of cash in the aftermath of what seems to be a drug deal gone bad.
Slick launched this independent film on a limited budget, and became the youngest producer to register with the New York State Governor's Office of Motion Picture and Television. The film was primarily financed from grassroots Internet contributors through the fund-raising site Kickstarter. Furthermore, several of Bushwick commercial establishments, most prominently Tony's Pizzeria & Restaurant, whose 443 Knickerbocker Ave. location became production headquarters, provided strong support for the project.
Full Circle is a uniquely adventurous and inspiring film project, both for its rich use of neighborhood locales, as well as its original musical score. Drawing on the support of esteemed collaborators from NYU's Clive Davis School of Recorded Music, Slick and music composer, Chris Hierro, crafted an exclusive soundtrack that captures the heartbeat of Brooklyn's trendy revitalization.
Full Circle also features Rob Morgan of the critically acclaimed, award winning film 'Pariah', and the short film 'The Tombs', as the neighborhood thug Lomatic and Kelvin Hale, Detective Hawks of the TV series 'Blue Bloods' as Jamal, one of Lomatics' henchmen. Also featured is Celestine Rae of the Off-Broadway hit show 'All American Girls', and Devale Ellis formerly a wide receiver with the Detroit Lions who is making his film acting debut.
Full Circle is currently in post-production. The films' expected U.S. release is slated for the first quarter of 2012, followed by foreign release and distribution. Plans are also underway for the festival circuit. You can watch for news and track the progress of Full Circle at www.fullcirclethefeature.com.
