Social Media To Play A Vital Role In Marketing
Online, January 25, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The Social Media is set to play a vital role in marketing, in times to come.
The role of social media in marketing, especially direct marketing, was discussed at a recent meeting of team-heads from some select marketing companies of UK. A Marketing Manager from Appco, leading direct sales company said, "It's not just about the future. We are all already using the social media, to a very large extent. We post things related to our business on social networking sites, we tweet things, and we use Facebook. It works wonders. But we feel, we can do better use of this new and potential medium if we do ample research and studies on how to use it".
The meeting, a rather small and informal one, was held without any news coverage or media exposure. A participant, a Team Leader working with a Birmingham based direct marketing company explains, "For us, it's more of a get-together. We interact otherwise too, over the phone and over the net. But once in a while we have a sitting, where we get to talk face to face, exchange pleasantries and talk about such vital things too. This time somehow, the social media thing came up and we discussed it in detail".
The people who took part in the meeting discussed on how to use the social media more effectively and less obviously. They all agreed upon the fact that it's a judicious use and not a too profuse use of the new medium that's needed.
"Too much of anything is dangerous", says a Marketing Supervisor from the Manchester based Oracle Advertising, whom we contacted over the phone. "Drawing a line somewhere, that's what we need... We need to remember that we tend to overdo when we get amazing results, but with the social media, we better be a bit judicious", he concluded.
