Online, June 5, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Smile Career Academy is Proud to Announce the Launch of New Orthodontist Assistant Program
A door to a new educational option has been opened for students seeking a career as an Orthodontist Assistant as Smile Career Academy launches the first of its kind hands-on orthodontic training Program in South Florida.
The Orthodontist Assistant Program at Smile Career Academy offers comprehensive Orthodontist Assistant Training. Clinical skills are instructed and practiced hands-on in an actual dental office setting. Smile Career Academy offers two Orthodontist Assistant programs for both experienced dental assistants and for students new to the dental field.
As with all programs offered at Smile Career Academy, the Orthodontist Assistant Program will provide participants with an engaging learning environment, small classes sizes, and one-on-one instruction time to promote the development of proper clinical skills. The program is an ideal opportunity for students seeking to obtain training for a specialized in-demand career in Orthodontist Assisting.
"Dental Assisting and Dental Office Management has always been offered at SCA, and we are thrilled to introduce our Orthodontist Assistant Program. We had a lot of interest from past dental assistant graduates who want to further their dental career into this specialty," said Nichole H. Director of Dental
Education.
In the Orthodontist Assistant Program at SCA, coursework begins with dental anatomy overview, and covers topics such as orthodontic instrumentation, placement and removal of orthodontic brackets and retainers and aligners. Students learn what is expected of them in assisting an orthodontist during chair-side procedures, as well as how to handle a variety of orthodontic tools, as well as dental laboratory procedures.
As part of the program, students are offered on-site internship hours that includes experience working in a dental environment under the supervision of a dentist. "Our curriculum has a primary focus on hands-on training of necessary skills so the student is always learning and practicing skills that will benefit them in their future job placement," said Nichole H.
