Slyde Handboards Launches First Global Search to Sponsor Female Handboarder

Slyde Handboards, a Southern California lifestyle brand, is holding the first global search to sponsor a female rider.

Slyde Handboards is a Southern California surf brand dedicated to the growing sport of handboarding.

Slyde currently sponsors 11 males from across the globe as “Slyde Ryders.” Now, Slyde is searching for a female rider to add to the team, and is the first handboard/handplane company to do so.

"Stoke doesn't have a gender, everyone can experience it, and girls can charge as hard as anyone."

“Stoke doesn’t have a gender,” claims Daniel Carr, Slyde Team Ryder. “Everyone can experience it and girls can charge as hard as anyone.”

The contest requirements consist of three steps.

First, contestants must enter with a video or photos.

The video must be one to two minutes in length. It should showcase the contestant’s “skills, style, winning personality,” and above all, why the contestant wants to “Ryde for SLYDE!”

If the contestant chooses the latter, she must compile three or four action photos. Photos can be any type of water shot, including: “surfing, bodysurfing, handboarding, boogie boarding, or mermaid status.” She must also tell why she wants to #RYDE4SLYDE.

“The most important quality is someone who loves the ocean and the outdoors – a waterwoman!” said Steve Watts, founder of Slyde Handboards.

The second step is sending the videos or photos. They can either be e-mailed to Michelle@Slydehandboards.com or posted on the Slyde Handboards Facebook Wall and using the hashtag #RYDE4SLYDE.

August 25th begins the voting portion of the competition. The vote will be held on Facebook and one winner will be selected out of five final contestants. The contest will conclude on August 30th.

“We really want to bring the awareness to girls and women than they can go out there and have an amazing time in the ocean,” said Watts.

The winner of the contest will receive a complete SLYDE Waterwoman Handboard package. It will also include ongoing promotional opportunities as a SLYDE Team Rider in 2014.
