SIRCO's Newest Water Sampler is the Lightest Ever

SIRCO Samplers, the Water Sampling division of Southwell Corp has finally announced its lightest ever automatic water sampler. After decades of durable and reliable automatic samplers, Southwell finally produced a sampler light enough to carry even when full of water.

The new light-weight model from SIRCO, the PVS 4120, has a smaller pump and lighter battery than its big brother, the PVS 4100. It weighs a mere 23 pounds, undercutting the competition significantly.

The SIRCO vacuum-method of sampling achieves greater speeds and lifts than the peristaltic-method, which includes most of the water samplers on the market today. Speeds with the lightweight pump using 3/8" ID intake tubing can be as fast as 5 feet per second for a 25 foot draw. Although this is less powerful than SIRCO's other water samplers, these speeds are still faster than peristaltic-pump samplers.

With no wear on the tubing, vacuum samplers tend to require fewer replacement parts than other sampler types. They take a more representative sample, rather than pushing and crushing any solids on the way through the tubing to the chamber.

Using vacuum technology for such a lightweight sampler has not been achieved in North America until now. Using such a robust and reliable method of water sample collection in a lightweight package has many advantages: they are not only easy to transport and set up, users can rest assured that they are reliably taking samples overnight.
