Silicon Valley-Based Adtech Firm MOLOCO Partners With Tokyo-Based SpiderAF for Anti-Fraud Services

MOLOCO will Join the SHARED BLACKLIST, an Industry-Wide Master List of Scam Affiliates

Tokyo-based Phybbit, Ltd., developer of the SpiderAF anti-advertising fraud software, has announced that the Silicon Valley-based mobile advertising firm MOLOCO is the latest addition to its roster of global partner companies enrolled in the SHARED BLACKLIST (SBL), a first-of-its-kind industry-wide list of fraudulent affiliates shared between major ad companies. The SBL is compiled and maintained thanks to the powerful SpiderAF AI-driven algorithm which can detect a range of online advertising fraud techniques such as fake impressions, clicks and conversions. MOLOCO will incorporate the SBL into its own proprietary fraud detection tool called DoubleCheck Score.

Moloco has long been committed to combating ad fraud in the mobile space by building its own fraud detection algorithms and fraud reporting interface. The partnership with Phybbit will enhance its efforts to provide clean and high quality traffic to advertisers. Other SBL member companies include: i-mobile Ltd.; Adways, Ltd.; Interspace Co. Ltd.; Bulbit, Ltd.; Fan Communications, Ltd.; fluct, Ltd.; GMO TECH, Ltd.; Supership, Ltd.; Maverick, Ltd.; United, Ltd.; and Zucks, Ltd.

“We’re very pleased that MOLOCO has recognized the unique power of the SBL,” said Phybbit, Ltd., Founder and CEO Satoko Ohtsuki. “This marks the first expansion into the U.S. market and we anticipate accelerated growth as the SBL demonstrates its power and accuracy on a global scale.”

“MOLOCO and Phybbit share a mutual commitment to building and maintaining a healthy mobile ecosystem in Japan by ensuring that advertisers have access to clean, high quality traffic at all times. We believe our partnership and the adoption of SpiderAF brings us closer to achieving our goal,” said Ikkjin Ahn, CEO of MOLOCO.

In the past, fraud diagnosis has typically been conducted on log data after being analyzed, but by sharing information through the SBL, partners can confirm whether the data is fraudulent or potentially damaging to brands with a high degree of accuracy. Every day, billions of data points are analyzed by SpiderAF with visual patrols conducted by the SpiderAF Surveillance Team. The company also hosts regular fraud prevention R&D seminars with its partners.

Juniper Research has estimated that in 2018 fraud cost advertisers $19 billion worldwide which is projected to reach $44 billion by 2022. Phybbit published a whitepaper which reported that from January to June of 2019, its own software estimated fraud impact on Japanese companies to be 1.42 billion yen (USD $13 million).
