Shreveport-Bossier African-American Chamber of Commerce to Host Annual Meeting and Honor Seven Community Leaders with Chamber Awards
Online, February 1, 2012 (Newswire.com) - For more than 70 years, the Shreveport-Bossier African-American Chamber of Commerce (SBAACC) has been a part of the local area working to enhance and enrich the city, community and citizens through business economic growth and development. The Chamber will host their 2012 Annual Meeting on, Thursday, February 23, 2012, beginning at 6:30 pm at Sam's Town Casino located at 315 Clyde Fant Parkway in Shreveport, LA. The purpose of the annual meeting is to review the prior year progress and to state the mission and objectives of the Chamber going into a new year. Individual tickets are $40 and the event is open to the public.

"The annual meeting theme is "Advocating for Your Business" and we plan to create a value proposition which validates the benefits of a Chamber membership."
Dr. E. Edward Jones, Sr. Pastor of Galilee Baptist Church, will receive the Herschel Brown Civil Rights Award. Sonja Collins Landry, Publisher of the Shreveport Sun, will receive the John H. Wilson Trailblazer Award. Additionally, five individuals will receive the 2012 Chairman's Award for their community service and leadership. The honorees are:

The Chamber offers valuable services including business mentoring and networking, educational business workshops, member's volunteer efforts with mentoring initiatives in schools, higher education imperative committee members, and convention and tourism support services. SBAACC has partnered with the Greater Shreveport Chamber and the Bossier Chamber in supporting businesses and economic development throughout the region.
