Shirley J. Howland Installed as President National Association of Women in Construction Greater Phoenix Chapter #98
Online, November 4, 2009 (Newswire.com) - Shirley Howland, CIT, executive assistant for Perini Building Company, has been installed as president of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), Greater Phoenix Chapter #98.
Howland has been involved in NAWIC since March 2005 and most recently served as president-elect, vice president and on the association's board of directors. The Greater Phoenix Chapter, as of August 2009, is the second largest chapter in the country with approximately 120 members.

NAWIC's Greater Phoenix Chapter is involved with a number of Valley charities and fundraisers. Over one million dollars in grants and scholarships have been awarded to women enrolled in construction related educational programs, through funds generated by an annual golf tournament and sales of the Greater Phoenix Chapter's Construction Dictionary. The dictionary is currently in its 9th edition with over 90,000 copies sold worldwide. Howland serves on the development committee for a future edition. Howland is the executive assistant to Perini Building Company's preconstruction executives and has been employed with Perini since 2000.
