Shawn Anderson to Donate 5,000 Books to California Shelters and Outreach Centers
Los Angeles, CA, September 5, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Motivational author and speaker Shawn Anderson is donating 5,000 motivational books to California’s homeless shelters. From now until Extra Mile Day on November 1, 2014, Anderson will make a book donation to requesting non-profit homeless or unemployment outreach centers that are seeking to provide support to families and individuals in need.
"There are two gifts we can all give to other people despite our economic condition... hope and inspiration," Anderson shares. "When we take the time to plant either of those two seeds in another person, we create the opportunity for positive momentum to grow."
Anderson, the author of six books, is passionately dedicated to empowering others to "live the life they love." Besides writing and speaking, Anderson is the Founder of Extra Mile America, an organization which will lead an estimated 500 cities to declare November 1, 2014, as Extra Mile Day a day to recognize the capacity we each have to create positive change in our families, organizations and communities when we go the extra mile. Created in 2009 with 23 inaugural cities, Extra Mile Day was declared by 444 mayors in 2013.
"Instead of waiting for someone to step up and change our lives, what if we step up and start thinking about changing someone else’s life?" Anderson states. "We each have an opportunity to go the extra mile every day and be a difference-maker for someone else."
Anderson will give away 2500 copies each of two of his book titles, Extra Mile America: Stories of Inspiration, Possibility and Purpose and Amicus 101: A Story About the Pursuit of Purpose and Overcoming Life’s Chaos. For California non-profit shelters and unemployment offices interested in learning more about the free "Go the Extra Mile" book program, they can contact Shawn@ExtraMileAmerica.org.
