Due to rapid growth of its organization, Service Dogs by Warren Retrievers, “SDWR” is seeking qualified candidates to work as kenneling staff and field trainers.  In operation for over six years, SDWR, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Madison, Virginia, is one of the nation’s largest service dog providers with over 500 service dogs placed.  SDWR is now serving over 1,000 families through its programs.  SDWR breeds, trains, and places service dogs to adults and children with invisible disabilities such as Diabetes, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Seizure Disorders and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. 

Qualified candidates must enjoy working with dogs and be passionate about improving the quality of life for the disabled.

Trainers and kennel staff positions are physically demanding and require trainers to walk and control dogs of various sizes and breeds.  SDWR works exclusively with Labrador and Golden Retriever breeds.  The Field Trainer position requires three weeks of travel per month.  College coursework in animal behavior, biology and psychology while not required is a plus.   An apprenticeship under the direction of experienced instructors or trainers is also a plus.

Candidates for these positions must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
